Take a spectacular drive through the mountains down to the town of Nizwa, one of the oldest cities in Oman and the country’s ancient capital. Once a centre of trade, religion, education and art, Nizwa is home to many historic sites including the imposing 17th-century Nizwa Fort, the largest fort in the Arabian Peninsula. Lose yourself in Nizwa Souq, famous for its Bedouin silver jewelry alongside spices, pottery, leather goods and more. On your return to the resort, stop for a walk through the ancient alleyways of Birkat Almouz, a medieval village built into the rock face. Bring along some local currency for famous spices and or souvenirs to remind you of your time in Oman. This tour starts at 7:00 a.m. Advance booking is required, entry ticket not included.
